PR Awards Are On My Mind

Yesterday I received a large packet of award entry forms for another state’s upcoming PR awards. Yep, I volunteered once again to be a judge for the awards. It’s time consuming, for sure, so my friends will see me hovering over these entries at poolside this weekend and next. But I thoroughly enjoy the process. Why? Because it inspires me to do great work for my clients. In fact, it was judging these awards a few years ago that made me realize, “Hey, I want to be award-winning!”

I’m co-chair of the PRSA Georgia Chapter’s Independent Counselor special interest group this year and our upcoming meeting will be held on June 17. The topic? A discussion about award-winning PR programs and projects. The Phoenix Awards (for PRSA’s GA Chapter) is coming up again, so I would encourage those that have great programs and projects to enter their work.

PR awards are always on my mind. The desire to be “award-winning” is key. It’s part of the push to be the best I can be. In the end, it’s not whether we ultimately win an award or not, because sometimes it really is down to two fantastic entries but only one can take the top spot. It ultimately comes down to putting forth the very best effort.

So far, I am “award-winning” several times over. And am very proud of those accomplishments. What awards are given in your industry? Seek them out and make sure to enter. Good luck!
